Shop for Change this International Women’s Day

As a brand founded and run by two women passionate about equality and empowering women, every day is a day to celebrate the women in the KIND office!

To mark this year’s International Women’s Day we are proud to be partnering with i=change by upping our $1 donation to $3 with all online purchases from 8th to 10th March. Importantly with each purchase you get to choose which of our charity partners the money goes to, including Women’s Community Shelter, Global Sisters and Greening Australia.

To help you make your decisions a little easier we thought today would make the perfect opportunity to shed some light on two of our charity partners and the amazing work they do to support Australian women in need.

  1. Protect a woman: Women’s Community Shelter

56,000 women in Australia, many with young children, are left homeless or seeking a safe space trying to escape domestic violence. Sadly, with this high demand community shelters are unable to keep up with the increasing inquiries and nearly 50% of women seeking shelter are being turned away due to inadequacy in current facilities.

Women’s Community Shelters provides women and children a safe place to stay and an opportunity to build their lives again. They work with communities to establish new shelters and provide short-term emergency accommodation. Providing additional services like counselling, healthcare and education to women that’ve been victims to homelessness and domestic violence, helps them to now achieve fulfillment and rebuild their self-esteem. Take a look at how through the help of donations they’ve made a brilliant impact here.

$50 donation = provides a hot meal and a safe, comfortable place to stay for one night

  1. Back her brilliance: Global Sisters

Gender inequality in the workforce is not an unheard concept, however beyond the pay-gap this broadens to barriers in employment and inability to access resources for self-employment due to disability, carer responsibilities and lack of job opportunities. Australian single women over 50 are the fastest growing group to experience homelessness due to financial vulnerability.

Global Sisters with their 3-step approach of Educate, Incubate and Accelerate helps women thrive in setting up a viable business. Women that are passionate and ambitious but unable to participate in mainstream employment can now access sustainable work. Global sisters along with female entrepreneurs and the community have built an ecosystem that thrives to support women and help them stand tall and proud.
